So we’ve just had the only Who we’ll have all year.
So here we have the final episode of the first Chibnall series, let’s discuss it.
This was hyped as the episode everyone would be talking about for ages to come, I’m not that convinced. That’s not to say it’s a terrible episode but Demons of the Punjab it ain’t.
On tonight’s Doctor Who the show was entirely dominated by the first guest star to play a major part in the show, and does he make his mark.
Get ready for your pinches of salt everyone but according to reports the latest showrunner and lead of Doctor Who are to quit the show in solidarity together after the BBC have once again attempted to interfere with the running of the hit show, recently “rebooted” under the new showrunner. The source of this split is…
Another week and another excellent Doctor Who episode, following up last week’s poignant tale with a horror-comedy surrounding the abuse of technology.
If you watch one episode this series so far to see the new Who in action, make it this one.
This week we got a good old fashioned space episode, with the crew finding themselves on a medical transport that suddenly finds itself under threat from unknown entities, the stuff classic sci-fi is made of.
Well I was expecting it at some point but not quite so early, bur I think it’s fair to say that was the first mediocre episode of Thirteen.
So here we come to what was always going to be a very knife-edge episode in terms of execution and reception for the show, let’s talk about whether they succeeded or not.
What do you get when you take a barren planet, an intergalactic race, and the Doctor and her gang lost with no way home? Turns out a pretty compelling if not perfect tale.
So after a notable absence from our screens Doctor Who is back with a complete refresh that not even Moffat had back in 2010 and this Premiere shows its already a very different beast to the NuWho that came before.
Battlefield V was a game I really wanted to root for, a game that would finally get a franchise once beloved back on track after years of identity crisis over what sort of game it was trying to be. Instead what I found was a game that applied fixes to imagined problems without once asking what the actual problems were.
Battlefield V launched to a very big PR mess the other day I think it’s fair to say, with the most vocal criticism being the usual screech of sad little White Guys upset that the “political agenda” (read: making a game fun for everyone and not just them) has been forced down their throats in a game where you can run…
Fallout 4 was a deeply polarising game in the Fallout franchise and a situation where I admittedly fall into the disappointed camp. That’s not to say the game was out and out terrible, far from it, as it actually improved regarding many elements of its transition to First Person back in ’08. Among these elements were…
In yet another demonstration of just why the BBC is struggling to attract viewers who aren’t interested in property or dance programmes the corporation, no doubt as a result of some internal dick measuring contest, has decided to scrap the immensely popular Robot Wars reboot after 3 series to make way for “new shows”.
For what’s meant to be the first look at the next Star Wars film I have to say if you hadn’t told me what this was I’d have thought it was a surprise Blade Runner spin-off given how more “out there” it looks compared to the more typical feel of a Wars film. Obviously that could be incredibly exciting and amazing but…
*Spoilers for Star Trek Discovery up to most recent episode*
So it’s io9s 10th Anniversary and I’ve just realised there’s no comprehensive list of where all the old guard have gone. Thinking it might be nice to have a post where we could collate what said writers are doing now. I know a few went back to Uni and others like CJA and Newitz went onto bigger and brighter things,…
The most recent batch of Black Mirror, Charlie Brooker’s largely dystopian anthology series of tech gone wrong, has finally been released onto Netflix and this group of six episodes is just as varied as the previous batch. The trouble is the Netflix model may already be showing some cracks.
